What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine was originally created as a way to treat patients who were located in remote places, far away from local health facilities or in areas of with shortages of medical professionals. While telemedicine is still used today to address these problems, it’s increasingly becoming a tool for convenient medical care. Today’s connected patient wants to waste less time in the waiting room at the doctor, and get immediate care for minor but urgent conditions when they need it.
Dermatology, a visually based specialty, lends itself to remote telemedicine visits for concerns that do not require an in-office procedure. We are now set up to offer remote visits by video conference or phone call.
Our board certified Dermatologists, Dr. Heather J Roberts and Dr. Christine Kim, are happy to offer this service to improve access for patients who cannot make it to our office.
What types of consultations can we provide through telemedicine?
Here’s a short list of common concerns we can address via telemedicine:
- Acne
- Rosacea
- Rashes
- Eczema
- Spots & Moles
- Psoriasis
- Skin infections
- Hair & Nail problems
- Cosmetic Consultations
How does it work?
Due to the fast-changing availability of Telehealth tools, Heather J. Roberts, M.D., A.M.C. is now using both Nextech Telehealth (newly built directly into the EMR system and will be the tool predominantly used) and RingCentral Meetings (Powered by Zoom).
