No need to turn to the fountain of youth for your skin, because now there are the Restylane® family of products: Restylane®, Restylane-L®, Restylane® Lyft with Lidocaine, Restylane® Silk, Restylane® Refyne, Restylane® Defyne and Restylane® Kysse.

Restylane® is a safe and effective cosmetic filler used to restore youthful contours of the face and smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. With Restylane, you can achieve a natural looking “nonsurgical lift” of the lower face, jowls and mouth corners in less than 1 hour.

Restylane® is one of the world’s most used, most studied dermal fillers, and has been safely used in over 70 countries and in more than 1.4 million treatments in the U.S.

Facial rejuvenation by Restylane® is most popular for smile lines; however, it also does wonders to restore your own youthful lips. Dr. Roberts can use Restylane to give you a subtle enhancement by minimizing upper lip lines and redefining your lip outline, or she can add lip volume to give you fuller “pouty” lips.  If droopy lip corners are making you look tired and drawn, Restylane can lift these areas too. Either way, Restylane lip rejuvenation will add a sparkle to your natural beauty.

Restylane® is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA). Hyaluronic acid normally occurs in the body to keep skin plump and hydrated, lubricate joints and shape the eyes. But, with age and other environmental factors, these characteristics start to fade. Over time, the active ingredient in Restylane® naturally and gradually breaks down.  Since Restylane contains no animal products, a skin test is not required prior to treatment.

Restylane® offers immediate results. Using her delicate technique, Dr. Roberts will use a very fine needle under the skin in the area(s) to be treated. Some discomfort is associated with the injections; however, topical anesthetic and local nerve blocks are available upon request.  Mild swelling, bruising and slight tenderness in the treated area(s) can last for 3-5 days. Treatment sessions take only 30 minutes on average.

Don’t worry about the same expense next month, because Restylane® has long lasting effects which let you enjoy your new enhanced beauty for 6-9 months or longer depending on the area treated and Restylane product used.

Prior to treatment with Restylane, Dr. Roberts recommends avoiding blood thinners (Motrin, Aspirin, Fish oil, Vitamin E etc.) for up to 14 days before the procedure to minimize the chance of bruising. (see our patient education section for a complete listing of blood thinners).

To minimize bruising and swelling, after Restylane treatment, Arnica tablets may be taken (4 tablets under the tongue 4 times a day) starting the week before treatment and continuing for 5-7 days after treatment.

For 1-2 days after your Restylane treatment avoid alcohol, severe exercise, hot tubs, extreme hot or cold temperatures, sunbathing, tanning, or rubbing the treated area.

Dr. Roberts instructs her patients to avoid dental work or deep dental cleaning two weeks before and after all filler injections.
